NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program

NVIDIA Evangelist to Train a Wide Range of Students on Cutting-Edge Technology Trends in a Hands-On Environment

In higher education, preparing students for an ever-changing world and giving them hands-on experience with the latest technologies is a cornerstone of educating the next generation of talent. NVIDIA’s higher education programs are designed to provide students with the opportunity to experience the next generation of talent.

NVIDIA’s higher education programs support students with a variety of NVIDIA content, including hands-on workshops, self-paced courses, certifications, webinars, live events, grants, and developer news.

NVIDIA Student Ambassador Programs in Japan

Among NVIDIA’s student support programs, the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program is being rolled out around the world, and the program has been successful in many countries. In Japan, two students from Shiga University were certified for the first term of the program, which started in April of this year. Interest in the program has been growing in Japan, and within six months, four students from Shiga University and two students from Tokyo University of Technology were certified as the second cohort of students.

What is the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program?

The NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program aims to develop students who are willing to share the latest trends in AI and data science, and who can practice various tasks with their technical skills.

The program targets students affiliated with technical colleges, universities, graduate schools, and research institutes, who have obtained or plan to obtain a degree in computer science, IT, engineering, science, data science, or AI-related fields, and whose basic requirement is the ability to use oral and written communication skills in English.

The program then expects student ambassadors to fulfill the following roles

Provide guidance in sharing learned skills and accessing the school’s GPU resources
Raise awareness about the technology learned and contribute to the community of users about that technology
Conducting technology sharing workshops with students twice a year
Assisted with other NVIDIA AI Technology Center (NVAITC) events and workshops as a teaching assistant (TA)
Regularly share your AI or NVIDIA technology knowledge and experience with NVAITC
As a certified Student Ambassador, you will receive technical guidance directly from NVAITC researchers, participate in the latest GPU and AI related courses, projects, and receive the latest technical information directly from NVIDIA.

Launch of the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program

The 1st NVIDIA Student Ambassador Kickoff was held at Shiga University’s Hikone Campus in April this year, where the first class of student ambassadors, Rinako Kaetsu and Takato Ueno of Shiga University’s Graduate School of Data Science, presented their goals and future plans as ambassadors, and a certificate award ceremony A certificate awarding ceremony was also held. The first workshop, a hybrid of online and offline workshops, was held on October 6 as a place to share technology, one of their plans. The workshop covered a wide range of topics, from the basics of GPU utilization and the latest information on AI and industrial metaverse, to the use of RAPIDS, which accelerates processing by running the entire data science pipeline on GPUs, and demonstrations of basic RAPIDS operations, data analysis, and visualization of analysis results on the university’s compute server. The event was a great opportunity to share a wide variety of topics.

This event was attended by about 20 people, including not only students and faculty from Shiga University but also participants from other universities, and a question-and-answer session was held by the students.

Endless Learning

NVIDIA will continue to actively support students in Japan. We hope that many students will participate in the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program and deepen interactions among students across university boundaries and national borders, which will broaden their knowledge, generate new ideas, and lead to breakthroughs in technological innovation.

I believe it is important for higher education, which is leading the way in training the next generation of students, to provide more opportunities for students to learn, develop and share their skills in emerging technologies such as accelerated computing, data science and AI. Through the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program, we hope that many students will deepen their knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI and the metaverse, and that they will become future leaders who can address and contribute to social issues. said Vincent Gong, NVIDIA AI Technology Center Japan Lead.

In addition to the NVIDIA Student Ambassador Program, NVIDIA also offers the NVIDIA DLI University Ambassador Program, where school teachers are certified as ambassadors (DLI certified instructors) to provide hands-on training in cutting-edge technologies (AI, accelerated computing, data science, etc.), The Ambassadors are certified DLI instructors who are able to offer hands-on workshops on cutting-edge technologies (AI, accelerated computing, data science, etc.) free of charge.

In Japan, the NVIDIA DLI (Deep Learning Institute) workshop “Fundamentals of Accelerated Data Science with RAPIDS” will be held on Monday, December 25, 2023, at a university by Professor Chisako Muramatsu of Shiga University. hands-on training to enhance key skills and technical knowledge in Accelerated Data Science, and upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate of completion issued by NVIDIA DLI.
